Why a Datalab?

We love our data!

The Datalab welcomes you to explore the digital museum in a new way!

Here you can explore museum collections in a variety of ways using artificial intelligence techniques.

You can access datasets from Badisches Landesmuseum Karlsruhe and and use them for your own research and projects.

The Datalab is an experimental platform for practice-based research, improving collection data, experimenting with machine learning techniques and presenting (prototypes of) new tools.

In times of rapid change through artificial intelligence, we felt it would be useful to create an experimental space, invite creative technologists and find ways to improve the accessibility and quality of the collection data.

The Datalab was initiated as part of the Creative User Empowerment project (2021–2023) which supported the development of the xCurator tool.

The Datalab platform is intended to be collaborative space. If you think it might provide a home for you own initiative, please contact the Datalab team (Allard Pierson & Posthumanities).
